Verse for the Day “As they came to the temple to fulfill this requirement, an elderly man was there waiting—a resident of Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. He was a very good man, a lover of God who kept himself pure, and the Spirit of holiness rested upon him. Simeon believed in the imminent appearing of the one called the Refreshing of Israel.”—Luke 2:25 (TPT)
Reflection Like Simeon, let us continue to live with expectation—that we will encounter Jesus today, amidst the issue we are facing. Jesus will come to save, restore, and renew, for He is our true Messiah. The name of Jesus revealed in this passage—the Refreshing of Israel—can also be translated into English as
Refresher
Encourager
Consolation
Comfort
Simeon waited faithfully, even into old age, holding onto God’s promise that he would see the Messiah before his death. And he did.
In the same way, we who wait expectantly—regardless of age or circumstance—will experience a refreshing from Christ today!
Prayer: Holy Spirit enable my soul to look up to you in a steadfast hope, expecting to see Christ today! Help me not forget that my hope in Jesus is not a vain fantasy, but a Living Hope. Amen.
