How to apply a T-shirt sticker?
Ready to jazz up your tee with some heat? Heat-based T-shirt stickers are a super fun and fuss-free way to turn your plain old tee into wearable art. But before you fire up that creativity (and your iron), make sure you’ve got your DIY toolkit ready:
-
A flat surface to lay out your tshirt
-
An iron box
-
A blank sheet of printer paper
🧺 Step 1: Lay It Out
Find a flat surface—your bed, a table, or even the floor works. Lay your T-shirt flat and decide where you want your design. Whether it's cotton, poly-cotton, or polyester, this method works wonders.
🧼 Step 2: Iron Out the Wrinkles
Preheat your iron to 160°C (medium heat). Iron the area where you'll apply the design to remove any wrinkles or moisture. This ensures the vinyl adheres properly.
🌡️ Step 3: Set the Temperature
Set your iron to 160°C (medium heat). This is typically the midpoint between the maximum and minimum temperature settings.
🖼️ Step 4: Position the Sticker
Place your sticker on the desired spot with the plastic carrier sheet facing up. Ensure it's oriented correctly. For added protection, place a plain sheet of paper over the sticker.
🔥 Step 5: Apply Heat
Press the hot iron onto the paper covering the sticker. Apply medium, continuous pressure for 15 seconds. Avoid sliding the iron; press straight down and lift straight up.
⏳ Step 6: Cool Down
Remove the iron and let the sticker cool down. This may take about 5 minutes. Patience is key!
✨ Step 7: Peel Off the Carrier
Once cool, gently peel off the plastic carrier sheet from one corner. If it resists, reapply heat and let it cool again before peeling.
🔁 Step 8: Final Press
Place the plain paper back over the design and apply heat for an additional 5 seconds. This ensures the sticker is fully adhered. If any part of the sticker hasn't adhered properly, repeat steps 4–7.
Now you're ready to rock your custom tee! Remember to wash it inside out with cold water and mild detergent to keep your design looking fresh. Enjoy your personalised masterpiece!
